Jennifer Newyear

At the age of four I drew a portrait of a beautiful Miss America and put it in a drawer to save. No doubt it was a lot of scribbles. I was very disappointed when a couple of years later it was no longer there. I studied at Cooper School of Art and numerous Life drawing groups. Pastels, watercolor, photography, and conte crayon are tools I often use, yet my preferred medium is oil paint and I paint from life or direct observation. Sometimes I see images in my palate, woodgrain, or dried coffee in a cup and it becomes a painting telling a story. My most admired artists are Vermeer, Cassatt, Bonnard, Vuillard, Sargent, O'Keefe, Kahlo, and Hopper.
